Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga Yoga, Fly Yoga, Hot Yoga, Guided Meditation and Sound Bath

Hatha yoga classes in Porto. Hatha is an ancient practice developed in India and Nepal. Today, it is one of the most popular practices in the West, based on the combination of postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama). It can be as smooth or intense as the students can achieve, and the practice and requirement is personalized to the stage of evolution and characteristics of each person. The term Hatha derives from the combination of the concepts of "Ha" (which represents the Sun) and "Tha" (Moon), and Hatha Yoga is a practice of joining these two energies and balance between body and mind. Yoga is always as physical as it is mental… what is physical, mental or spiritual in any Yoga practice is always a very personal experience.

Vinyasa Yoga classes in Porto. Vinyasa is a style developed in the US in the 80's and 90's, a more energetic variation with a sequence of asanas covered in fluid and continuous movements, linked by the breath. Asanas are therefore faster and shorter. Unlike Ashtanga, it does not have a pre-set sequence of asanas, offering a variety of different movements and asanas. The term Vinyasa derives from the Sanskrit “Vi + Nyasa”, which means “variation within certain parameters” or “movement in an intentional or special way”. That is, variability but not chaos. It is a practice based on breathing and change, embracing the transience of each state and connecting the sequence of movements with the intention of evolving towards what is most important to each one.

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and traditional practice created in Mysore, India. It is characterized by fixed sequences of postures (asanas) that are performed in conjunction with deep breathing (ujayi breathing, also known as breath of fire). It is a dynamic, intense and fluid practice that helps develop strength, flexibility and mobility, strengthening the immune and respiratory systems and promoting physical and mental well-being.

Classes translate into a fixed and dynamic sequence of postures, adapting the rhythm and intensity according to each person's level and individual needs. The goal is to create a yoga practice that is both challenging and accessible, allowing each student to progress at their own pace and according to their abilities. The fact that it is a fixed sequence will allow the student to practice independently over time.

75-minute guided class. Not being a Mysore practice (in which each person follows the sequence of Asanas at their own pace), guided Ashtanga Yoga classes follow a sequence of fundamental postures.

The practice of Ashtanga Yoga not only transforms and detoxifies the body, but also nourishes the mind and spirit, providing a sense of inner peace and balance.

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient practice that uses asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing), bhandas (abdominal contractions) and mantras to activate the body's energy centers. The "Breath of Fire" used in Kundalini is an active and vigorous breathing that helps to purify the body, increase vital energy and promote a state of alertness and mental focus. Kundalini is an intense practice of body and mind.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga can be very different from other forms of yoga. It is an intense and powerful practice that can lead to profound personal transformation.

A Slow Yoga class is a vinyasa style at a more meditative pace, emphasizing peace and calm in body and mind. The poses are held longer, taking several breaths in each pose, giving the body time to stretch and acquire muscle "memory". Slow Flow can be less "intimidating" for beginners to yoga and those recovering from injuries. But a slow flow is not "easy" or "smooth". Stretching is emphasized in Slow Flow but also allows you to work on strength in more challenging asanas. Learning to "move slowly" is a mindfulness practice and can help calm the mind and manage stress. We all need to find moments to slow down and experience some calm.

Yoga Lab is a laboratory where you can experiment, challenge and evolve your yoga practice. Each month, professors Ana Dias and Luis Guilherme will focus on a group of specific postures to develop the technical skills, strength and flexibility necessary to “conquer” the most challenging asanas: headstands, handstands, arm balances, pelvic opening, backbends, leg balance...

A joyful yoga, with smiles between the succession of sun salutations and vinyasas, in the Ganban room with black UV light. Yogis are invited to use fluorescent face paintings, wear glowing bracelets and clothing, to create a yoga rave accompanied by energetic music, positive energy and spread brightness and happiness. Good vibes only!

Suspension allows us to have a different view of our body and its limits, intensifies body awareness, improves stretching and, when in inversion, allows a decompression of the spine, generating sensations of lightness, relaxation and well-being. A unique and visually beautiful experience. It is a beginner-friendly style, and any movement and position can be adapted as the students evolve.
